WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – As expected, moderate to heavy showers came in more frequent waves from Thursday to Saturday. Wilmington officially recorded 3.02 inches of rain in this stretch; tallies were somewhat variable and all significant across the Cape Fear Region. We’ll see what drought relief these rains may have brought when NOAA’s report comes out this Thursday.
Your First Alert Forecast flips to a period of not zero, but lower, chances for showers and storms to close the weekend and start the new work week: 30% for the rest of Sunday, 30% Monday, and 30% Tuesday. More sun will equal more heat in this period, with daily high temperatures likely getting deep in the 90s… and heat index values around a stressful 105 with a few spots near 110. Stay rested, hydrated, and neighborly! A change in the weather pattern late week will bring temperatures back down and rain chances back up once again.
New Atlantic tropical storm development does not appear likely in the week ahead.
