WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – How you stayed rested, hydrated, healthy and neighborly in the heat Sunday and Monday is the same strategy you’ll want to employ this Tuesday. Very stressful heat index values like 106, 108, and even around 110 will arise from steamy dew points in the 70s and high temperatures in the middle and locally upper 90s. Wilmington’s record for July 16 is 98, set in 1983. Average is 90.
Chances for a shower or heavy storm are around 30% Tuesday. Though that’s not insignificant, higher odds for cooling rains will open later in the week and into the weekend.
Meanwhile, on the tropical storm front: new Atlantic development does not appear likely in the week ahead. Debby, Ernesto and Francine are the next storm names on the 2024 list.
