WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – Hurricane Beryl’s tracking toward Gulf of Mexico will encourage heating here in the Cape Fear Region. Stay hydrated Friday and this weekend as heat index values will push 105. Stay vigilant in and around the water as there is an elevated rip current risk, amid the inviting 83-degree surf. Rain chances will be very low and friendly for your plans early on; higher odds for drought-denting downpours ought to develop later in the holiday weekend and next week. Have a happy and safe Fourth!
