First Alert Forecast: hot, humid, & unsettled to end June

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – The final days of June harbor balmy highs, muggy dew points, and increasing storm chances. Your First Alert Forecast hosts highs in the 90s, lows in the 70s, and heat index values in the triple-digits throughout the weekend. Make sure to stay hydrated and stay well rested! Rain and storm chances will steadily increase from 30% Saturday and Sunday to 70% Monday, July 1, as a frontal system moves through the Cape Fear.

Stay cautious in and around the surf as there is a moderate threat for rip currents across area beaches.

In the tropics, western Caribbean disturbance Invest 94-L has a small development window near Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula this weekend. Newly formed Tropical Storm Beryl is riding the low latitudes between Africa and the Caribbean. Beryl should eventually become a hurricane as it move into the eastern Caribbean early next week. Finally, another unnamed disturbance in the far eastern Atlantic has medium development odds. Regardless of development, none of these features present any definable hazards to the Carolinas right now.
