WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – Wilmington officially hit a record high of 99 and netted 0.8 inches of rain Monday. Tuesday will have less intense heat and fewer storms. Your First Alert Forecast stocks highs in the upper 80s and lower 90s and a 10% chance for a storm. Also expect an easterly breeze and a moderate risk of rip currents.
For the remainder of the week, your First Alert Forecast features more heat with daily highs mainly in the lower and middle 90s, and variable storm chances like 20% for Wednesday, 50% for Thursday, and 30% for Friday. The weekend ought to have lower 90s and 20% daily storm chances ahead of a seasonably toasty start to July.
In the tropics: new storm development appears unlikely across the Atlantic Basin through midweek. The western Caribbean Sea or southern Gulf of Mexico may host some sneaky development by the end of the week; there are no definable threats to the Carolinas in any case. The next tropical storm name on the 2024 list is Beryl.
