Beryl itself will lash Jamaica through Wednesday and reach the southwestern Gulf of Mexico by the weekend. Once an exceptionally strong Category 5 hurricane, Beryl will weaken considerably in the days ahead, but its impacts may still be locally significant. Thankfully, the Carolinas should face no direct tropical weather threats through the remainder of this holiday week and into the weekend.
