WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – Your First Alert Forecast carries more dry skies – the perfect remedy for saturated soils and swollen rivers – through Friday, and shower and storm chances will only slowly perk up over the weekend into next week. Daytime temperatures ought to regularly ping the upper 80s through the period; cool weather fans will enjoy another round of widespread 60s overnight Thursday into first thing Friday. Humidity levels will tick up this weekend into next week. Isolated storms return next week.
In the tropics: large and powerful Hurricane Ernesto remains on track to lash Bermuda Friday into Saturday, and parts of eastern Canada are even in Ernesto’s National Hurricane Center forecast cone at days four and five. The storm’s swell will increase surf heights and rip current activity at all Cape Fear beaches – possibly by Friday and certainly this weekend. Make sure to stay near a lifeguard if you’re planning on swimming!
