First Alert Forecast: elevated temps & surf amid growing rain chances

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – Great to see you on this Friday. Your First Alert Forecast for the next several days will trend on the hot side with more in the way of sweaty 90s for daytime highs and steamy 70s for nighttime lows. Light to moderate east and southeast breezes will whisk a few clouds across an otherwise sunny sky as odds for rain stay low. In the warm summer surf, please continue to be leery of an elevated rip current risk.

Chances for showers and storms include 20% Friday, 30% Saturday and Sunday, 40% Monday, 20% Tuesday, and 20% Wednesday. Hopefully, some rain will arrest the development of drought.

In the tropics: Alberto, the first storm of the 2024 Atlantic Hurricane Season, is no more. However, its remnants will meander over parts of Mexico and South Texas. Across the basin, additional tropical disturbances carry medium development odds in the coming days; direct problems from these appear unlikely for the Cape Fear Region.
