First Alert Forecast: consistently hot, variable chances for needed rain

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – Your First Alert Forecast brings the heat in this first full week of summer! Stay rested, hydrated, and neighborly with daily high temperatures in the sweaty 90s and stressful heat index values cresting near and occasionally north of 100. Nights will offer limited cooling with 70s.

While the tropics will continue to buzz this week, direct action for the Carolinas is unlikely. Needed rain will have to come from low to medium chances for drenching showers and storms, including 30% Sunday night, 50% Monday, 10% Tuesday, 30% Wednesday, 40% Thursday, 30% Friday, and 20% Saturday.

In the tropics, the latest disturbance called “Invest 93-L” is nearing the same landfall location as former Tropical Storm Alberto. While the land interaction may hamper its development chances, it still may be a big rainmaker. pic.twitter.com/0gRYmhfVRP
