WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – Hope your holiday weekend is going great! For its remainder and into next week, daily temperature runs into the 90s and plenty of humidity will be a sufficient prescription for isolated showers and heavy storms. It should be noted that heat index values will stay in the triple digits – so please stay rested, hydrated, and neighborly. Cooling rain odds may get a little better in the middle and latter parts of the week ahead as Hurricane Beryl and its remnants bypass the Cape Fear Region to the west. Meanwhile, area lifeguards ought to be staying busy as the threat for rip currents will only slowly abate in the next few days; heed their calls if you plan to venture into the warm summer surf.
