First Alert Forecast: a hot & humid weekend

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – Your First Alert Forecast sizzles in the 90s for Saturday and Sunday, with hot and humid weather expected for the next several days. Highs will heat into the middle 90s by the start of the new week. Keep in mind, the heat index values will be on the rise and should top triple digits by the new week. Stay hydrated and take breaks often. Warm southwest winds will fuel the heat Saturday, while a few pop-up showers and storms may provide some relief. Surf temperatures will linger in the 80s and please continue to be leery of an elevated rip current risk.

Chances for showers and storms include 30% Saturday and Sunday, 40% Monday, 20% Tuesday, and 30% Wednesday. Hopefully, some rain will arrest the development of drought.

In the tropics: Invest 92L holds low odds for development as it brings showers and storms to portions of the southeast United States. Additionally, an unnamed disturbance in the Bay of Campeche features medium development odds in the coming days. Both systems will not directly impact the Cape Fear.
