WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – The final National Transportation Safety Board report has been released for a plane crash last year at Colonial Beach that claimed the lives of two Wilmington residents.
Per the NTSB, the cause of the accident was “the pilot’s failure to maintain adequate airspeed while maneuvering at low altitude, which resulted in an exceedance of the airplane’s critical angle of attack and a subsequent aerodynamic stall.”
Logan Edward Woodworth, the 28-year-old pilot, and Bruce Edward Woodworth, his 57-year-old passenger, were both killed in the crash on June 7, 2023.
