Family of four displaced after house fire in Rocky Point

ROCKY POINT, N.C. (WECT) – A family of four is displaced after a fire burned through a room in their home Saturday afternoon.

According to the Pender County Fire Marshal, reports of a house fire on 71 Forest Lane in Rocky Point came in at around 3:45 p.m. The Rocky Point Volunteer Fire Department, along with the New Hanover County Fire Rescue and Pender EMS and Fire, responded to the scene.

Crews arrived and managed to extinguish the fire within 30 minutes. The fire had been contained to one room.

The fire marshal told WECT the home had been occupied at the time, and the family was able to get out due to their smoke alarms going off.

The American Red Cross is helping the displaced family.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
