TABOR CITY, N.C. (WECT) – The ribbon was cut Wednesday morning, July 31, for Facts of Life Community Outreach’s new food pantry in Tabor City, according to an announcement from Food Lion.

“Food Lion Feeds donated more than $94,000 to Facts of Life toward the purchase of a metal building since their former facility had a sinking foundation. A principal disaster relief partner of the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina, the grant supports Facts of Life’s effort to meet the rising demand for food assistance as more and more people face hunger throughout the region. As a result of Food Lion Feed’s investment, the agency can create sustainability in its operations and allows the food pantry to serve more people. Food Lion Feeds was founded in 2014 by Food Lion to address food insecurity in the towns and cities it serves,” the release states.

Food Lion Feeds delivered 7,900 lbs. of food to the pantry. A no-cost food distribution took place following the ceremony for members of the community.
