Electrocution kills Duke Energy employee in northwest Charlotte neighborhood

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – A Duke Energy employee was killed Wednesday following an electrocution in a neighborhood in northwest Charlotte, according to Medic.

Officials state that the report of the electrocution came in around 2:35 p.m. A line worker was reportedly killed on Wandering Creek Drive.

“Our hearts go out to our teammate’s family and fellow coworkers,” Duke Energy said in a statement. “We are currently investigating the incident to learn more and ask for privacy for the family at this time.”

There is a heavy police presence on scene as well as Duke Energy workers.

Duke Energy released the following statement:

Earlier this afternoon a fatality on Wandering Creek Drive in Charlotte involved one of our line workers. Our hearts go out to our teammate’s family and fellow coworkers. We are currently investigating the incident to learn more and ask for privacy for the family at this time.
