NEW HANOVER COUNTY, N.C. (WECT) – Crews responded to a large brush fire in Castle Hayne Saturday afternoon, June 22, according to New Hanover County Fire Rescue.
Per the release, fire crews were able to get the fire under control within 20 minutes of their arrival.
“The prompt response and efficiencies of our crews ensured the fire was contained and did not threaten any structures in the area,” NHCFR states.
On Sunday, NHC Fire Rescue announced that outdoor burning is discouraged as dry conditions continue across the state.
“With abnormally dry conditions across much of the state, outdoor burning is discouraged,” the release states. “Unattended fires are likely to escape and spread rapidly. Let outdoor burning wait until NHC receives significant rainfall.”
