BRUNSWICK COUNTY, N.C. (WECT) – Fire crews were dispatched to a woods fire in Compass Pointe Friday morning, June 21, according to Leland Fire/Rescue.

Per the announcement, N.C. Forest Service and Leland Fire/Rescue crews responded to Compass Pointe East Wynd NE to find a fire deep in the woods near a campsite.

“Several handlines were put in place and the fire was brought under control within an hour. NC Forestry deployed a plow to prevent the fire from spreading,” Leland Fire/Rescue states.
