WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – New Hanover County Fire Rescue crews extinguished a fire at a house at around noon on Thursday, Oct. 24.

According to the county, flames and smoke were showing when firefighters arrived at 501 Harris Road off of Gordon Road.

There were two occupants home at the time who are currently being assisted by the Red Cross. Crews were able to rescue a kitten from the home.

Nobody was injured, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
