COLUMBUS COUNTY, N.C. (WECT) – The Court of Appeals on Aug. 6 dismissed the appeal of Daquon Corrothers, who was sentenced to life in prison in 2022.
Corrothers was found guilty of first-degree murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon for the 2020 killing of Alex Moore. District Attorney Jon David has said that Moore was reported missing on Jan. 28, 2020, and then found dead in shallow water in Corrother’s backyard on Feb. 5, 2020.
In the appeal, Corrothers attempted to argue that the trial court erred in admitting certain evidence.
The court found that he did not preserve his constitutional objections to the search warrants meaning that they are unable to review it, that he did not show the trial counsel’s performance was deficient and that the trial court was not incorrect to deny Corrother’s attempts to dismiss or set aside the jury’s verdict.
