JOHNSTON COUNTY, N.C. (WRAL) – A man and woman were found dead inside a burning Johnston County home on Sunday.

Sunday morning, family members of Kyle Trabel called the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office asking for a welfare check for Kyle at his home on Scout Road in Four Oaks.

Responding deputies noticed heavy smoke coming out of the home and called the fire department. Firefighters extinguished the fire and investigated the smoke.

Firefighters found Miriah Woody and Trabel dead in the master bedroom.

Investigators found that both Trabel and Woody each had a gunshot wound. Authorities said the two were in a relationship and lived together.
