Coroner: Person takes human remains to Goodwill before notifying Anderson police

ANDERSON, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – The Anderson County Coroner’s Office said they are investigating after skeletal remains were found in a wooded area Saturday night.

The coroner said a person was in the woods near the Graylyn Subdivision and found the bones around 10 p.m.

According to an incident report, the man reportedly took the bones to a Goodwill drop-off located at North Main Street and put them inside a box he found there. The report states that he then notified the Anderson Police Department about the discovery.

The coroner said investigators went to the location where the bones were found around 7 a.m. on Sunday and completed a search of the area where they located several more bones and items.

Officials stated the bones appeared to have been in the area for a long time and were scattered in a large area.

The identity of the skeletal remains have not been identified and will require further investigation to include DNA analysis which the coroner said could take several months.

Officials are asking anyone with information to contact the Anderson Police Department.
