NEW HANOVER COUNTY, N.C. (WECT) – The conviction of Alfredo Duran-Rivas has been upheld by the North Carolina Court of Appeals, according to a decision filed on July 2.
In 2022, Duran-Rivas filed an appeal after being sentenced to a minimum of 118 years in prison. He had plead guilty to rape of a child, statutory sex offense of a child, four counts of taking indecent liberties with children, five counts of first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor and five counts of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.
