Communities concerned after multiple weekend shootings in Myrtle Beach

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF) – Two shootings, two victims, and two separate investigations are now underway in the City of Myrtle Beach, after a violent weekend.

The two shootings took place a little more than a day and a mile apart.

The more recent of the two shootings happened Sunday night when officers and neighbors said someone opened fire along Acline Avenue. The shooting hurt one person and shut down parts of Mr. Joe White Avenue.

“It was two gunshots and a pause, and two more,” said a witness and friend of the victim.

The witness and friend of the victim said she doesn’t understand why someone would try to take her friend’s life.

“Nobody knows who. I don’t. I heard the shots. Some people could take him wrong, but he didn’t deserve it though,” she said.

The woman said she’s now praying police find who pulled the trigger.

“I hope he’s okay for his family’s sake. As much as he loved them,” she said.

However, just a few minutes away officers are still investigating another shooting that happened Saturday night.

In Saturday’s shooting, a gunman hurt a person at Greens Boulevard in the Willow Run apartments.

WMBF News reported earlier this month the apartments are also where a fight between roommates boiled over into deadly gunfire.

The shooting trend appears to be scaring some prospective tenants away from the complex.

“There was a shooting here. Which is not good if you want to buy. What the hell am I doing in this location?” said future Myrtle Beach resident, Charles Raspa.

He said the shootings have him thinking twice about moving in.

“I live in Staten Island in a very quiet community. I’m not saying there’s no crime at all, but you know you don’t see shootings around and I don’t need that stuff. I don’t need shooting in my life at all. I can’t run that fast anymore,” said Raspa.

If you know anything about the shooting you’re asked to reach out to MBPD.
