WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – Columbus County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) has completed its final deliveries to Western North Carolina for now, according to a Facebook post.
The sheriff’s office delivered two more tractor-trailers filled with local donations to Riverside Baptist Church in Burnsville and Mitchell County in Bakersville. In total, CCSO has deliver six tractor-trailer loads of supplies to those in need.
CCSO has paused collections and will update the community if there is more need in the future.
“The generosity we’ve seen from Columbus County has been overwhelming. You have all reminded us of the true meaning of community – coming together for others when they need it most. Thank you for the heart you have shown; you are the reason we can do what we do,” Sheriff Bill Rogers said.
CCSO thanked local fire departments and our other dedicated agencies for their support and for providing donations and volunteers.
“Pait’s Tractor LLC and Singletary Small Engine Repair for their support in this relief effort, as well as all of the local businesses that contributed to our mission. Remember to shop local – it strengthens our county and the businesses that have stood by us through this effort,” CCSO officials wrote.
While they are not accepting supplies currently, each week CCSO will be sending out teams of 5-7 deputies to support patrols and assist local law enforcement in WENC.
Anyone who can contribute generators, chainsaws, or chains should call 910-642-6551 so CCSO can connect them with the appropriate agency for those items still needed in the region.
“Thank you, Columbus County, for embodying what it means to be a compassionate and resilient community. Together, we make a difference,” Sheriff Rogers said.
