WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – Multiple road closures were set in August so crews can work on replacing railroad ties.
CSX Transportation were set to start working in New Hanover County starting August 12 for a week at various intersections. However, the work has been postponed due to impacts from Tropical Storm Debby.
During the work, the roads will be completely closed at railroad crossings.
For each crossing, once the road is closed, the work is expected to take three to five days to complete. The approximate start dates for the closures:
- N 6th Street near 7th Street: August 12
- Hilton Street near 7th Street: August 12
- Henry Street south of Princess Place Drive: August 14
- Colonial Drive near Confederate Drive: August 15
- River to Sea Bikeway east of Dawson Street: August 15
- Marstellar Street near S 13th Street: August 15
- S 13th Street near Marstellar Street: August 15
Signage will mark detour routes during the closures.
