WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – The Cape Fear Community College women’s basketball team defeated Brunswick Community College 90-41 Wednesday night, adding to a school record for most wins since the start of the season, according to the college.
Per CFCC, the Sea Devils improved to 16-0 with the win. The previous record was held by the 2022-23 women’s basketball team, which went 13-0 to start the season.
“Under the guidance of first-year head coach Taylor Todd-Williams, who previously served as assistant coach for the 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 seasons, the team has flourished, despite having an all-new roster comprised entirely of freshman and transfer players,” CFCC states. “The team has dominated the Region 10 Conference this season, claiming the top spot and garnering national attention. Ranked #16 in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II, CFCC’s women’s basketball team demonstrates they’re a team to be taken seriously.”
The undefeated run is especially impressive considering the illnesses and injuries that have at times left the team with bench shortages.
