WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – The medical examiner’s report has been released for Karen Molta Rumie, a woman who disappeared on Aug. 18, 2023, and was found dead in a pond four days later.
A celebration of life with a candlelight vigil was held on Aug. 27 at Anne McCrary Park, the place where her body was discovered.
Police said back in August that there was no sign of foul play, and the medical examiner’s report says that Molta died from cocaine toxicity. She was found with half of her body stuck in a concrete culvert.
