CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – The Carolina Panthers are going overseas in 2024.
The NFL announced the Panthers will play at Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany, as part of the league’s annual International Games aimed at increasing its presence worldwide.
Carolina’s opponent for the game has not yet been announced, nor has the date. Other teams playing abroad in 2024 include the Chicago Bears, Minnesota Vikings and Jacksonville Jaguars. Each of those teams will host a game in London.
“It’s an honor for the Carolina Panthers to play in Munich in 2024,” Panthers owner David Tepper said. “This game represents more than playing internationally for us. With more than 200 German-owned companies in the Charlotte area, this opportunity offers a special connection for the Panthers and our community.”
The NFL said all four teams playing internationally are part of the NFL’s Global Markets Program, which awards international marketing rights to franchises in countries beyond the U.S. to build fandom and realize brand and commercial opportunities.
The Panthers last played abroad in 2019 when they defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 37-26 in London. Former Panther Christian McCaffrey scored two touchdowns in that game.
