CAROLINA BEACH, N.C. (WECT) – The Carolina Beach Police Department has received over $10,000 in grants to expand its drone unit and host a health and wellness seminar, according to a release from the Carolina Beach Police Foundation.

“The first grant will provide the funding for a 2-day seminar that focuses on CBPD Officer health and wellness through a comprehensive program designed to address the challenges of working in Law enforcement and providing proactive strategies for managing the physical, and mental health demands with effective strategies to build resilience and proactive self-care,” CBPF states.

The second grant will expand and upgrade the CBPD drone unit. The police department uses drones for incidents on the beach or at Freeman Park, assisting with life-saving measures. Drones are also used in high-risk indoor situations to safely navigate and obtain information.
