WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – Market Street between Birchwood Drive and Kerr Avenue is back open Sunday, July 28, after a utility pole snapped, according to the Wilmington Police Department.

Per the WPD, a commercial vehicle caught a low-hanging utility line, causing the pole to break.

The roadway was closed for an extended period of time.

Generators supplied power at numerous intersections that were affected by the utility pole being down.
