CALABASH, N.C. (WECT) – Six years ago, Terrilynn and Robert Glover purchased a property on Riverview Drive that was the site of both a trailer park and a shipbuilding barn garage.

Since then, they have made upgrades and have transformed the property into an event venue called “Calabash Point Place.”

They’ve hosted small parties and gatherings through the years, and now they want to open up their doors to the entire community.

“My vision is to have a market like an artisanal market for local artisans to come in,” Glover said.

Terrilynn says the goal is to host the market once a week, bringing in different vendors to sell homemade products from jewelry to paintings.

Glover says there’s a great sense of community in town, but there’s a missing element – a place where people can gather and enjoy music.

“We have some great restaurants, and we have a couple of nice little stores, but we don’t have a place for people to come that they can hang out and, you know, listen, really listen to music,” Glover said.

In addition to hosting a weekly market, Glover says she hopes the property can be used as a small concert venue, as well as a coffee shop and a spot for car shows.

“It’s got such potential to be an awesome place, you know, so I’m open to anything,” Glover said.

She says the property is a short walk to the river and the downtown restaurants, making it a prime location.

Glover says with all the talent in the area, the sky’s the limit for what Calabash Point Place could bring to the community.

“The people in Calabash are good, kind people and I think that a lot of them are just looking for something different to do,” Glover said.

Glover says she hopes to host the first artisan market as soon as next month.
