BRUNSWICK COUNTY, N.C. (WECT) – The Brunswick County Board of Education voted during a Finance Committee meeting to approve recommended initiatives for the 2024-2025 school year on June 18.

Per Brunswick County Schools, teacher supplements will be increased by $1,200, making the county’s supplement one of the 10 highest in the state. Supplements for assistant principals and principals have also been increased, making those in the top 15 in the state.

All other staff who are still employed as of Sept. 30 will get a one-time award: anyone employed before January 1 will receive 2% of their 2023-2024 base salary, and anyone hired between Jan. 1 and June 30 will get 1% of their 2023-2024 base salary.

The board also approved student support positions as recommended by the district’s comprehensive needs assessment.

“It is anticipated that all BCS staff will receive raises in the 2024-2025 fiscal year North Carolina state budget. Once the budget is passed, we will have more information on those potential raises,” a BCS announcement states.
