Brunswick Co. man arrested following shooting in Sunset Beach

SUNSET BEACH, N.C. (WECT) – Police responded to a shooting early Monday morning, July 1, in Sunset Beach, the town’s police department says.

Per the Sunset Beach Police Department, officers responded to the 200 block of Royal Poste Road, near Clubhouse Road, at approximately 12:40 a.m.

“Upon arrival, officers determined that several rounds were fired into an occupied dwelling. Witnesses reported an individual running from the area and entering an awaiting vehicle,” the SBPD release states.

The vehicle and suspect, 18-year-old Tyz’Jae Daetwon Gore of Longwood, were located in a neighboring town. He has been charged with discharging a weapon or firearm into an occupied property and resisting a public officer, according to jail records.

“No injuries were sustained in this incident, and the suspect and at least one resident at the Royal Poste location are known to one another. There is no ongoing threat to the public, this is an isolated incident,” the police department adds.

The investigation is ongoing.
