BRUNSWICK COUNTY, N.C. (WECT) – Brunswick County Public Utilities has given a notice of an untreated wastewater discharge that happened from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 7.
Per the county, the release of about 3,000 gallons happened because of the extensive rain and runoff due to Tropical Storm Debby, overwhelming the treatment facility’s influent pump station’s storage capacity.
The release was at a tributary of the Calabash River, and sampling is being done.
No public action is required.
