WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – Located near the intersection of Princess and N 8th streets, Giblem Lodge became Wilmington’s first African American Masonic Lodge when it was built in 1871.

In 1875, the lodge hosted the first African American Agricultural and Industrial Fair in the country, and in 1926, served as the city’s first African American library.
