WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) -The Wilmington Interdenominational Ministers’ Alliance (WIMA) will host a school supplies giveaway next weekend.
- Friday, Aug. 16: Wilmington-area public school teachers are invited to stop by D.C. Virgo from 3 p.m. – 6 p.m. for a Teacher’s Appreciation event featuring free school supplies, food, and fun.
- Saturday, Aug. 17: Families with children who attend Wilmington-area public schools are invited from 12 p.m. – 3 p.m. to pick up a free backpack, and school supplies and enjoy festivities with music provided by Bigg B.
Both events will be held at D.C. Virgo Preparatory Academy on 814 Nixon Street in Downtown Wilmington. There will be live music, photos with UNCW’s mascot Sammy C. Hawk, food trucks, and more.
“Last year, we gave out more than 3,000 bookbags to public school families and celebrated 300 public school teachers with a school supply giveaway at our Teacher Appreciation event. We are excited to partner with UNCW and D.C. Virgo to support public school students, families and students at the start of a new school year again this year,” said Kristie Ford, project manager of WIMA.
