KURE BEACH, N.C. (WECT) – The NC Aquarium at Fort Fisher and the Town of Kure Beach are hosting their Back to School Beach Cleanup from 8 to 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24.
The event will be at Ocean Front Park, and students are encouraged to wear school colors and/or mascots.
There is a prize for the most school spirit, and there will be bird-friendly coffee, water and donuts.
Free parking will be offered in town spaces for volunteers, and reusable gloves, pickers and bags will be provided.
Volunteers are asked not to bring single-use plastic.
“We are excited to host a Back-to-School Beach cleanup as one of the many themed opportunities throughout the year for the community to join us in making a difference for our ocean. We look forward to seeing everyone showing their school pride, with all volunteers coming together in the spirit of caring for our planet,” said Joanna Zazzali, director at the NCAFF.
