WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – The fourth round matchup of the North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA) 4A women’s soccer championship playoffs is an all-Wilmington showdown.
John T. Hoggard High School hosted Eugene Ashley High School on Thursday night.
The rivals split the two regular-season games.
The Eagles scored first. Sarah Brannin made a pass to Savannah Moncet, and Moncet kicked it in. Viking carried the momentum when Avery Fisher found the back of the net. The game was tied 1-1 at halftime.
The Eagles beat Hoggard 3-1 and move on to the final 4. Ashley High will host Raleigh Millbrook on Tuesday. The winner of Tuesday’s game plays for a state championship.
