WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – A family-friendly arm wrestling tournament in Wilmington is set for this weekend.
Port City Pullers is hosting the event on Saturday, Nov. 2, at Multiply Church, and they’ve established divisions for kids, amateurs and pros.
“We’re thrilled to bring the Port City Pullers Arm Wrestling Tournament to Wilmington. It’s a great chance for people to experience the sport firsthand and join our community in a safe, welcoming environment,” said Adam Hoing, NC’s top-ranked arm wrestler in the 105kg class for both right and left hands.
The tournament is designed to make a safe and engaging space for all ages. Kids 10-16 can enter free of charge and will compete right-handed only. Amateur and professional participants can compete in right and left-hand divisions across various weight classes.
First-place open winners in these exciting matchups can receive cash prizes.
“The way the church interacts with the community has to evolve if it’s going to thrive. Instead of making the community fit into our programs, we create space to engage people right where they’re at,” said Pastor David Freeland of Multiply Church, home of Port City Pullers, LLC. “Events like the Port City Pullers Arm Wrestling Tournament are an extension of that vision—empowering and equipping people to engage their communities with the hope of Jesus, right where they’re at.”
Weigh-ins start on Friday, Nov. 1 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 2 from 9 to 11 a.m. The tournament starts on Nov. 2 at noon.
