NEW HANOVER COUNTY, N.C. (WECT) – 911 calls have been obtained by WECT in the case of three teenagers arrested and charged with the first-degree murder of a 17-year-old in New Hanover County on June 19.
Per the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office, the shooting was in the 2200 block of Teresa Drive at 5:30 p.m. The CAD report indicates the victim suffered a gunshot wound to the torso and was in the passenger seat of the car; shell casings were collected from the road.
One caller tells the dispatcher that there is a car in their front yard still running with the driver-side door open and that someone inside has been shot.
“Two guys pulled up in the yard one of them jumped out and ran into the backyard. I told him to get out of my backyard and he said that his friend had been shot. And he took off outta the backyard. He said they had a drug deal gone bad,” they said.
The second caller says their friend had been shot.
“I feel so bad for leaving him. But this dude pulled a gun. I don’t know what to do,” the second caller said.
They also said that the suspect had a mask and was wearing all black and mentioned three other people also there. When asked by the dispatcher, the caller said they thought three shots were fired. They said their friend was in the passenger seat of the car, and the call ended as law enforcement arrived on the scene.
