LAURINBURG, SC (WMBF) – One teen is hurt and another is in custody after a Thursday shooting in Laurinburg.
The Laurinburg Police Department responded around 12:10 p.m. to Kinston Street for a gunshot victim.
They found the victim at the scene, a 16-year-old boy. EMS took the boy to the hospital and then another medical facility for treatment, but he is expected to be okay.
After investigating, police learned a 13-year-old boy came to fight the 16-year-old at the home on Kinston Street. Then, the 13-year-old pulled out a gun and shot the 16-year-old, according to police.
The 13-year-old surrendered to law enforcement just before 1 p.m.
Police are charging the boy with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious bodily injury and possession of a firearm by a minor, according to Capt. Chris Young.
Young said more charges could follow.
